Scoring at the World Equestrian Games –
GRAND PRIX TEAM TEST

Note: The complete judges' marks were made available to the public for the first time after FEI ruling. This is the first report on the scoring at the WEG.

This test had many “very good” moments for the judges. Isabel seemed to be
really riding for it with lots of bravery, especially in her extensions,
however, a conservative medium canter in the beginning earned her a “5” from
the German judge. Gigolo earns many “8”’s for his collected walk, and 7’s &
one 8 on his extended walk. This can give her a big advantage over Bonfire
when the scores are so close. Isabel’s half passes in trot earned her a
total of 10 scores of “8”, a unanimous decision. Her passage earns “8”’s
quite regularly with an occasional “9” and Gigolo scores 8’s & 7’s in the
piaffe with one 9 in the final piaffe on centerline. They also add many
marks with the transition scores from passage to piaffe to passage with
mostly 8’s, a few 7’s and several 9’s.

The extended canter scored 3-9’s from the judges and 2-8’s. Gigolo’s canter
pirouettes were consistently 8’s with only 2- 7’s being awarded in 10 marks.
Her two tempis scored a 7, 9 and 3-8’s and the one tempis ranged from 5-8,
which means one judge saw a mistake. Isabel’s last extended trot added up
the 8’s in the extension and the transition at F with one judge awarding two
9’s.

Gigolo earned all 8’s for his gaits scores and mostly 8’s for impulsion and
submission with only two 7’s. All of the judges awarded Isabel a 9 for
rider and the scores varied from 76+% to 80.8% from the Italian judge with a
final score of 77.80%
