Isabell Werth set a World record for the highest score ever in a Grand Prix: 1945 points, 77.80%. Closely followed by Anky van Grunsven, with 1937, 77.48. As always there was considerable debate about the placing of these two.

The Nations team competition came down to the very last ride by Sue Blinks on Flim Flam who had to score 1722 points, 68.84% to beat the Swedish team for the bronze. Although Sue had a very good ride, Flim Flam was a bit tense, and the pair had to settle for 1689, 67.52.

Germany won the gold, Netherlands the silver, and Sweden the bronze.
