Video Rights We have purchased the video rights to dressage at CHIO Aachen (and every event we have filmed) since 2001 as have others before us and we have signed and paid contracts.

From the Official CHIO Aachen 2005 Event Document (available in pdf format at www.ChioAachen.de, Category Sport, Schedule) approved by the FEI on April 13, 2005:

Page 4, General Conditions:, Paragraph 4:

"The Organising Committee reserves the right, to make use of all illustrations (photographs, images, videos, etc.) made on behalf of the Organising Committee during the event or on the showgrounds for their own commercial purposes, without explicit consent of the person / competitor illustrated."

The Organising Committee of CHIO Aachen sold us these video rights as Aachen confirmed in our contracts and in this published statement:
"It is written in the invitation (Event Contract), that we, as the organiser of the event, have all the film and video rights and we are allowed to sell them. Riders have to accept this when entering the competition." Hence Kyra Beth Houston has all rights to film dressage at CHIO Aachen.

Similar language is found in all major equestrian event contracts and in all sports which are televised including World Equestrian Games, World Cup, etc.  Every competitor who enters the event is bound by these rules.  Organising Committees sell these rights to television (and video) to help finance the events.
Marks by Movement
(Transparency)
In 1998, the World Equestrian Games  in Rome marked the first time that the marks for each movement were released to the press.
FEI rules now mandate that marks by movement be released to the media.
Article 435 (4) At Senior Continental Championships, Regional Games, World Championships, World Cup Finals and Olympic Games, the score given by each judge for each movement performed by the participants must be made available in spreadsheet form (one form for each rider) for the use of judges, riders, Chefs d'Equipe and the media.
Special Thank You to Aachen Since 2002, CHIO Aachen has permitted us to film with our camera on the arena floor beside the judges' box at C (as we did at World Equestrian Games, Jerez, 2002).  Dressage un Ltd's videos showing complete rides with the marks by movement are used world-wide for judges' and trainers' seminars as well as appreciated by dressage enthusiasts of all levels.  Even if you cannot personally attend an event such as Aachen and see the top international competitors in person, now wherever you live, you can see the best in the world and understand how dressage is judged.

With Dressage un Ltd's "transparent videos" you can see 8s, 9s, and even 10s.  On our 2005 videos, you'll even see the entire range of marks from 1s to 10s.
