Junior/Young Riders The Junior/Young Rider Executive Board has been busy making plans for Junior/Young Rider educational programming to be held at the 2002 USDF Annual Convention in Orlando, Florida from November 27th to December 2nd. The featured speakers at the 2002 Annual Convention include Conrad Schumacher and Sharon Poulin. Both of sessions will be held for the Junior/Young Riders on Saturday, December 1 from 8:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. A continental breakfast will also be served to those attending.
Mr. Conrad Schumacher of Germany has trained European Championship, World Championship, and Olympic riders including Ellen Bontje and Sven and Gonnelien Rothenberger. At the 1996 Olympics, he coached Sven and Gonnelien to their silver medal team finish for the Netherlands and, Sven to his individual bronze medal. From 1979 to 1989 he trained the European Young Rider Championship first place team and individual medal winners. He is the USDF Advanced Young Rider clinician and the USDF Trainers Conference clinician. Mr. Schumacher will educate the Junior/Young Riders on all aspects of preparing for competition.
Sharon Poulin, from Deleon Springs, Florida is a USDF Bronze, Silver and Gold Medallist. In addition, Mrs. Poulin is an USA Equestrian "S" Dressage Judge, FEI Trainer, coach and instructor and has also trained and shown three stallions to the Grand Prix Level. She was a member of the East Team at the 1991 and 1993 Olympic Festival and a demo rider for numerous USA Equestrian, USDF and FEI forums. Poulin has been extensively involved in the North American Young Rider Championships since 1996 as either a Coach or Chef D'Equipe of the Region 3 Team. In addition to her riding, training and coaching accomplishments, Sharon and her husband Michael have raised four children, including Katherine and Gwen, members of the 1999, 2000 and 2001 Region 3 Gold Medal Team. |
