Lisa Wilcox & Rohdiamant
April 27, 2000

Lisa Wilcox & Rohdiamant have withdrawn from USET Selection Process.  Competing at Grand Prix for their first year, the pair has competed in only a Grand Prix short test, not a full Grand Prix as required for the Selection Trials and for the Olympics.  The USET Selection process rules require a full Grand Prix and competition at a CDI.  When Dortmund was downgraded from a CDI to a CD National, this show would not count as a qualifier.  This is similar to the riders who were at Pantano CDI***, a designated USET qualifier which had hired the judges for Sydney Olympics, and then the show was cancelled because of flooding.  Riders asked USET if the previous weekend scores at Pantano (not a CDI) could count and of course, they could not be counted.

Rohdiamant is a breeding stallion and this is breeding season.  There are two CDIs in Europe that the pair could enter to obtain their required second CDI score but the stud farm owners decided to keep the stallion at home for breeding season instead of traveling to the shows in Poland and Austria.

Lisa had indicated that she would attempt to qualify in Europe using the USET rule that if she opted to bypass the Florida selection trials, she would have to have an average score 2% higher than the third place finisher at the Selection Trials.  This would have been a difficult hurdle.

Lisa Wilcox is an American, living in Germany, competing on the stallion, Rohdiamant.  The pair has met the FEI Certificate of Qualification by earning two Grand Prix scores above 60%.  They competed at Dortmund, Germany which was slated to be a CDI***W but was reduced to a National CD a week before the show where they earned a 69.17%.  Other show results did not qualify as Qualifiers for USET computation. To meet USET requirements to be eligible for the US Olympic team, the pair needs one more CDI qualifying score by May 21, the last day of the US Selection Trials in Florida.

There are amazingly only a couple of CDIs in Europe in this time frame.  Rohdiamant is a breeding stallion and this is breeding season.  Apparently the only remaining CDI is Kreutel, Austria, May 19-21.  This is a long trip and may not be considered feasible by the owners of this breeding stallion.

Because they are competing in Europe and not returning to the US for the Selection Trials, the USET rules require that their scores be 2% points above the third place finisher at the Selection Trials.

Currently Lisa and Rohdiamant are in second place with their 69.17 behind Sue Blinks but not 2% above Robert Dover and Everest in 3rd place based on the qualifiers.  At the Selection Trials, the top twelve go head to head with a clean slate, only the Selection Trial scores count.
