Netherlands Foltaire Improves 9/11 It is to everybody’s relief that Foltaire is recovering well from his severe colic attack of last Thursday. It is miraculous how fit he is now as on Thursday his condition was critical. Today his rider, the American Günter Seidel had him for the first time walking under the saddle. Günter is very happy as at this moment the prospects are good. There is even a good chance that when everything is still going well the combination can still compete in the Games Australia by Boat 9/11 Yesterday all the horses had a day off. So what does the dressage team do then……You make an excursion. Anky:” An Australian man invited us the other day to go on the water with him in his boat. Of course we couldn’t decline his offer. We were greeted very generously when we boarded the 18-meter long vessel. While enjoying the lovely drinks and snacks (it’ s very difficult to keep the weight off here) we cruised around Piltwater Bay. This area is famous for its nice nature and we enjoyed the spectacular views very much. The hills are covered with eucalyptus trees and gum trees. The coast with often changing inlets is very similar to the fjords in Scandinavia. Later on we also took the chance of going out to sea. Because of the size of the waves, it was hard for everyone to stay dry. Now and then the waves would splash over the sides of the boat. So some people already had their shower for the day. Sjef especially was the unluckiest and couldn’t stay dry. On our way back we drove along the coast, which was a very nice route. We saw some very stylish suburbs of Sydney. To make this day complete, we went for dinner at a beautiful restaurant with a view of the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. The Opera House is spectacularly lit up with changing colors every 5 minutes. FEI Rules Begin 9/11 From tomorrow the FEI will enforce their rules in Horsley Park. Till now the Australian stewards have been controlling the Australian rules. Tomorrow the FEI rules, which are to be obeyed like any other international FEI show, will be conducted by FEI stewards. For example it is not permitted anymore to let another rider on your horse. If this is done, disqualification is the outcome. Random Doping Tests 9/11 Today Coby van Baalen unexpectedly had to undergo a doping-test. She urgently had to go to Homebush, which meant all together a three-hour drive for this doping-test. Luckily Ellen Bontje accompanied her and offered to drive the car. The Olympic Committee randomly picks people from all sports disciplines for this test. At this moment the results are not known yet.
