Emotional Final Ride for Bonfire During Bonfire’s very last ride there were very few dry eyes; The Dutch, the Australians, actually all the people in Horsley Park; also the people all over the world watching TV. Everyone who saw ‘Bonnie’s’ last ride was full of emotion. Anky: “This was Bonfire’s very last competition and I couldn’t wish a nicer ending for him.” Gigolo's Final Ride Too Everyone is very happy for Anky and Bonfire. Also Isabell granted Anky and her gold medal with warmth. Both Isabell and Anky go home with a gold and silver medal. They are glad that ‘the fight’ between them is over now that both horses are retiring. Isabell was very emotional during the press conference. It was also her last competition on Gigolo. Full of tears she thanked Gigolo and her trainer Dr. Uwe Schulten Baumer. Medal Ceremony Party It was a true carnival after the medal ceremony. Piet Raaijmakers especially arranged the ‘hum papa’ band from the Holland House for Anky. And then the party was on in Horsley Park. Anky’s parents were taken on the shoulders and were carried through the stadium. The Dutch Crown Prince enthusiastically congratulated Anky and came to chat her. It was wonderful! Jumpers Win Gold & Silver Unbelievable, the party never stops. After the gold medal of Anky, Jeroen also wins Gold and behind him Albert gets the silver. Fantastic! Sjef: “All the dressage riders watched the amazing performances of Jeroen & De Sjiem and Albert & Lando in the Show Jumping. It was unbelievable. Who would have thought that two individual would be claimed by the Dutch jumpers.” The emotions ran high between Jeroen and Albert as they let the tears flow. Horsley Park became Holland Park. There was no nicer end to the Games. The favorite for the Gold, Rodrigo Pessoa had three stops with his amazing horse Baloubet du Rouet and with this the Games were over him. Rodrigo was very disillusioned by this. The bronze was for the Saudi Khaled Al Eid. Celebration Time! 10.02 All of Holland is on their feet! Gold for Anky! Tuesday morning Anky will arrive together with all the other Olympic Athletes at Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam. At 4.00 p.m. Anky will be honored in the center of Erp, the home of Anky’s stables. We cannot get enough of it; and at 6.30 p.m. we do it again, now at the ‘Bonfire Square’ in Gemert, Anky’s present home town. Here she will first have a riding tour in a carriage, after which the party starts. Everyone is welcome Gold Travel Mates De Sjiem (winner of the Gold Medal in Jumping) and Bonfire were both good for Gold. Coincidently both of these winners were flying together in the same pallet on the KLM flight to Sydney. Probably Bonfire whispered to De Sjiem in his ears how to win the Gold. Because, after Bonfire, De Sjiem won the Individual Gold as well in Sydney. So a gold container!
