Grand Prix Special

15 Horse / Rider pairs competed in the Grand Prix Freestyle on the fourth day of competition: Saturday, September 30. Excerpts of 8 rides are shown on the Official Sydney Video. The top 15 with the best combined total from the Grand Prix plus the Grand Prix Special advanced to the Freestyle EXCEPT only three riders per country were allowed to advance. Both Netherlands and Germany had all four of their riders qualify for the Freestyle. Germany's Alexandra Simmons de Ridder on Chacomo and Ulla Salzgeber on Rusty were tied with identical total points after the GP and GPS. The Chef d'Equipe had to decide which rider would compete in the Freestyle and chose Ulla and Rusty because their Special score was higher.
