Whippet Run Farm
Columbia, CT
Dee, her husband, Rick, dogs Bentley & Peaches (whippets) and
Tottie (retired greyhound racer) share the farm with horses Roy and
Donnie. Dee is a Human Resources Director for Fuss & O'Neill
Consulting Engineer and Rick is a Practice Health Manager with Hill's
Pet Nutrition. Dee is a "r" Dressage Judge and is approved
by the AHSA to pursue and upgrade to "R". She enjoys judging
and conducting clinics specifically designed to improve riders' test
riding and presentation skills.
Dee competed hunters in her native state of NJ, then evented during
the ten years she lived in Texas. While in Texas eventing (through
Training Level) she gravitated to dressage. She has focused on
Dressage during the last ten years in Connecticut. Dee has owned and
competed: a grade horse; thoroughbred; quarter horse; Canadian Sport
Horse; Hanoverian; and a Dutch horse previous to her current two
horses. These horses went to various levels in dressage, up to PSG.
Dee now owns and competes:
Roy (11 yr old Danish - Rossi xx/Limka/Limebrand) at PSG and
I-1. Roy is schooling the Grand Prix work. He has been with Dee
for four years, imported from Denmark working at our equivalent of
Third Level. Roy is a sensitive and elegant horse requiring a
tactful approach.
Donnaldo (6yr old Hanoverian - Donnerhall/Baroness/Bolero) at
Third Level. Donnie was purchased in Germany when he was three
years old and had just been started. He is a charming character
with a precocious attitude.
It can be difficult to find time to train and compete two horses,
work full-time at a demanding job, judge shows and conduct clinics -
but through careful time scheduling its all gets done. Dee believes
that being a current competitor plus, her broad riding experience with
a variety of types of horses, helps with the judging. Training and
competing her own horses (with help from a number of excellent
instructors and clinicians) is a wonderful and often humbling
experience, as all dressage riders know. Whippet Run Farm wishes
everyone a successful and rewarding year!
