25 to 30 countries have indicated they are competing in dressage with 76 - 90 competitors making this the largest international dressage event as Sydney was limited to 10 team nations plus 10 individuals with a max of 50 competitors (46 competitors actually started). 83 competitors started at WEG Rome in 1998.

Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art
Jerez is known as the horse capital of Spain. Weekly shows at both the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art and the State Stud Farm in Cartuja and the annual Horse Fair in May are just a few of the equestrian events. World Equestrian Games in September will be the most prestigious equestrian event in Jerez history.
