Christine Traurig & Etienne
Etienne is a 13 year old Westfalen Gelding, 18 hands, sired by Ehrentusch. Christine is a native of Verden, Germany, home of the Hannoverian Verband auction where she was one of the elite corps of auction riders. She moved to the US in 1982 and became a citizen in 1994. She is married to show jumper, Bernie Traurig.
Klaus, and the auditors, were speechless
as Christine rode her Olympic mount. They were truly poetry in motion.
Tense riders result in tense horses. This is not the case with Christine. Flying changes come from the hindquarters. The hindquarters can only work
well when they are not disturbed by the hand. The rider must be careful not
to disturb collected movements with the hand—the horse must remain light
and responsive to the aids. Christine demonstrates this beautifully. |
