I love this horse! I don’t care that his left hind leg gets slow! I
don’t care that the ice –skating rink-cum-elevator music is
ridiculous! When this Lusitano stallion piaffes and passages (a good
part of his kur and for good reason), we see a horse dancing.
So what that the music has nothing to do with the power, the
movements, or the sheer glory..?
Best of all, this performance was much better than a few years ago.
The rider’s aids are still way too visible, but have gotten quieter
and more sympathetic. The actual trot is a bit weak, but the canter is
fluent—only the rider’s overly visible aids mar the picture, and the
tempis get swingy.
Canter to piaffe to canter—a great set.

1988, Bay Lusitano
Stallion |
Aachen 2000
by Bonnie Rombach |
Guizo, a handsome, bay
Lusitano stallion, with presence is much more compact in frame,
goes deeper into the corners. He excels at the freestyle where he
can show his best movements. His transition to extended trot
exploded instead of being a smooth release of energy like
Fabenfroh. His natural movement is more up and down instead of
forward. The stallion was unflappable, attentive and obedient when
first one and then two stray dogs chased a rabbit from under the
stands into the shrubbery around the judges stands at C. Guizo and
his rider simply ignored the rabbit chase commotion right under
their nose. |
