Haflingers of Pretty Pony Pastures

Pretty Pony Pastures Linda Watson, Pretty Pony Pastures in Michigan, selected Haflingers for their therapeutic riding program based on an article by Barbara T. Engel, OTR which appears in Therapeutic Riding 1 Strategies for Instruction book states "The rhythm of a child is different from the rhythm of an adult. Children, generally, cannot accommodate the long strides of an average to large horse. In Germany, Switzerland and Austria, one frequently sees the use of small horses - such as the New Forrest, Connemare and Haflinger." It goes on to say the Dr. Ingrid Strauss's book Hippotherapy 1995 states that a majority of children being treated are on Haflingers.
